PLRZTN is Milou Bakker’s graduation project (Spatial Design, Willem de Kooning Academy) and examines how urban polarisation manifests itself in Rotterdam. Rather than focusing on political opinions, the project centres on the spatial and social conditions that lead to separation, exclusion and parallel worlds within everyday urban life.

Visitors move through an environment of stretched fabrics, framed structures, light, sound and fragmented sightlines — subtly positioned, separated or confronted with one another, making tangible how space can steer behaviour and interaction.

The project is based on field research into Rotterdam-specific locations such as Museumpark, Leeszaal West and the Nieuwe Binnenweg, supplemented by interviews with experts and residents. At OMI, PLRZTN functions both as an immersive installation and a research-driven exhibition, with photography, mappings and statistics providing context.
