Inner City | Suburb

Stories from the Neighbourhood

19 November 2022 - 28 January 2023

Dive into stories from two remarkable Rotterdam neighbourhoods: the Oude Westen and Groot-IJsselmonde. Can you see similarities or in fact big differences? The exhibition Inner City | Suburb presents the perspectives of residents, designers and artists through photos, stories and drawings.

Rotterdam is celebrated as a city of icons, but how do you perceive the city at neighbourhood level? In the midst of imminent changes are the residents themselves, those who know their neighbourhood best of all. How do they view their district and how does that differ per neighbourhood?

The exhibition offers a temporary meeting space for residents and other Rotterdammers. Take a trip around the neighbourhoods, in the exhibition at OMI and during workshops, walks and evenings filled with stories. From buildings, streets and squares to experiences and hopes for the future.

An exhibition designed by architecture duo Dérive, with work by Khalid Amakran, Sanne Donders, Marwan Magroun, studio NadiaNena and many other creators.
